Under the BRECSA Technical Assistance (TA) Programme, a joint TA and PMU team conducted a ten-day workshop from 27 July to 6 August 2026 to support the development of Strategic Investment Plans (SIPs) for the vegetable, mushroom, and dairy value chains. The workshop covered Chhudzom Gewog in Sarpang, Zhemgang and Langthel in Trongsa, with consultations involving district authorities, extension agents, aggregators, youth groups, Sonamjabchorpas, Gups, and private entrepreneurs.<\/p>

The workshop focused on identifying investment priorities, developing funding proposals, and translating these priorities into Annual Work Plans and Budgets (AWPBs) aligned with ARP 2.0 and donor requirements. Consultations and field visits were conducted to assess production potential, challenges, input requirements, market opportunities, and value chain priorities.<\/p>

The assessment found that vegetables and mushrooms have strong production potential and are relatively ready for near-term investment, while the dairy value chain requires further strengthening of aggregation systems and cold-chain infrastructure. Farmers and youth groups highlighted the need for improved market access, production and post-harvest infrastructure, and targeted technical training.<\/p>

Key challenges identified included fragmented supply chains, weak aggregation systems, limited district-level resources, climate variability, and market price fluctuations. To address these challenges, the workshop facilitated multi-stakeholder consultations and initiated the preparation of funding proposals for priority investments.<\/p>

Going forward, the project will prioritize the finalization of SIPs, development of funding proposals, establishment of aggregation and market infrastructure, strengthening of extension services, targeted capacity building, and promotion of climate-resilient and market-oriented value chains.<\/p>
