As part of our ongoing efforts to promote Nutrition-Sensitive Agriculture, a two-day Training of Trainers (ToT) on Nutrition Education and Advocacy was successfully conducted in Trongsa and Zhemgang for Sonam jabchorbas(SJs) and Agriculture and Livestock Extensions. The training focused on strengthening interventions such as Nutrition Model Gardens, Home Gardens, and dietary diversification to enhance both production and nutrition outcomes. The Training was spearheaded by the WFP Technical Assistance under BRECSA project.
The ToT covered six key thematic areas:
Promotion of micronutrient-rich crops
Protein enhancement through legumes and poultry
Food safety and preservation
Dietary diversity and nutritious recipes
Affordability and improved consumption behavior
Benefits of local farming
The training brought together Sonam Jabchorbas (SJs) along with selected Agriculture and Livestock Extensions, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to deliver structured nutrition education at the community level.
Following the ToT, a pilot testing session was successfully carried out in Trong Gewog under Zhemgang, engaging 26 participants to validate and strengthen the training approach.
The primary objective of this initiative is to build the capacity of frontliner and to promote practical nutrition actions and facilitate sustained behavior change through a cascading training model.
Together, we are working towards healthier communities through improved agriculture and nutrition practices.
