The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) successfully conducted a remote Implementation Support Mission (ISM) for the BRECSA Project from 21 to 25 July 2025.

The primary objective of the mission was to review and assess the current performance of the project, provide technical guidance and corrective solutions to address ongoing challenges, and ensure that implementation remains aligned with the original project design, as well as the Government’s development plans and priorities.

The mission is expected to provide a significant boost to the Project Management Unit (PMU) and help accelerate implementation on the ground. It assessed the overall progress made since the previous supervision mission held in April/May 2024, and reviewed the status of agreed follow-up actions.

In addition, the mission evaluated the Annual Work Plan and Budget (AWPB) and the Annual Procurement Plan (APP) for the fiscal year 2025–2026. Working closely with the project team, the remote mission facilitated a series of individual thematic discussions and extended the necessary technical support and strategic guidance to expedite implementation.

The mission also reviewed the finalization of the project’s baseline study, and the revision of the logical framework, ensuring that key indicators and data are accurately reflected to guide future monitoring and evaluation.

This successful mission marks another important step toward enhancing the impact and effectiveness of the BRECSA Project, reinforcing IFAD’s ongoing commitment to supporting Bhutan’s efforts in building resilient and inclusive rural communities.
